Black and White view

While doing research for my project I noticed some people have a black and white view of the city so I'm sticking with this theme. Over the holidays I have to make more of the well-known buildings from around Limerick and add them to my display. I've also started work on a quilt/wall hanging of the city, I'm using white fabrics and black threads for the outlines but adding splashes of colour here and there.

card buildings

i was looking at old buildings and liked the crumbling old stone, so i tried 2 re-create that effect with demin and felt but didnt work to well. i also made a treasure/pirate map of the kings island area, then decided i'd make a 3D map. so i made some of the buildings that were on the map from card. now i'm thinking of making a little village type scene with the little buildings but have it all seen through a window, like as if ur inside one of the houses looking out at the others. the card buildings are white but i think i'll put in black detail on them and have the outside world dull like old black and white photos. the inside of the window the veiwer is looking out will have bright warm colours. thats it so far!

old limerick and crumbling houses

this week i researched old maps from the 1600s and old pirate/treasure type maps. took photos of old buildins round king johns castle, i liked the way they are restored near to their origional form but the inside are so up to date. i was also looking at regeneration in st.marys park and demolition of houses but still not sure what direction my project is going in!! help!!
