For our ranking project "Tools of the Trade" I picked Electrician. I looked up some of the artists given to us on the brief and i realy liked Alexander Brodskys work. He's a Russian architect/artist. He built a sructure from wire on a frozen lake and pored warmwater over it until it froze over. Inside he built a bar entirely from ice. It was all lit up on the inside and glowed at night. In spring it all melted away into the lake and just the wire structure was left.
This is his "Vodka Pavillion", its made from reclaimed windows of a derelict building, again with this work it is better viewed from the outside at night when its lit up.

This is the "Vodka Pavillion" from the outside, lit up at night.
I like how delicate they are and the transparency of the little figures.
This is "108 Moths" by Brittish born Tom Gallant, now based in Brussels . He mixes origami and kirigami, these are paper folding and paper cutting. This work was part of an exhibition called "Delicate Filth". The moths are cut from Asian porno mags, you cant tell unless you look realy closely.
This instalation is called " Black Cloud". Its hundreds of black paper moths and they are all fluttering up towards a light in the ceiling.
I like the idea of moths being attracted to the light, and because of my trade being an electrician, I'm thinking of electric lights. And as its mainly pliers electricians would use, the pliers remind me of moths or butterflys when opened out. I'm going to try and combine the three or four types of work by these artist to get a start with my project.
This is a display case I made with paper cut outs of different types of spanners,
they are layed out the way collectors moths would be.
These are some electricians tools i made out of red clay.
This rings are by Mixko. I really like these, some are moulds of barbie and kens faces, some skulls and some have diamonds printed on.
I made these rings from porcelain, it was very delicate and I broke a few of them.
I had a look at the Willow Pattern plates and liked the blue designs against the white so I painted on some designs with blue under glaze.
